I hope this message finds you well. I want to express my deep gratitude for your support and for the community that Results has created and embraced me wholeheartedly.

I vividly recall, as if it were yesterday, arriving in this country with nothing more than a backpack, $10 in my pocket, and a few words of English. That journey began 24 years ago.

Reflecting on this year, I’ve come to understand something profound: as I’ve aged, the stories we craft for ourselves become increasingly prominent and strongly influence how we feel, our present and our future.

For a significant portion of my life, I embraced the story of the struggling immigrant. Arriving in America as a former world champion, navigating the unknown was both challenging and invigorating. This story defined me, giving me a sense of purpose and identity.

Yet, as the years passed, I recognized that this story was evolving, becoming less and less relevant. While I cherished it, I realized that other stories could easily have taken center stage in my life.

Growing up amidst challenges — from waiting in rationed bread lines to feeling the scarcity of maternal affection, and then transitioning to a foreign country with a fresh start — I had plenty of opportunities to adopt a different, potentially limiting belief.

Just as I once embraced the immigrant tale, I could have succumbed to a victim mentality.

The narrative we choose significantly shapes our journey and influences our character. We are not confined to a single story; we have a plethora from which to choose. At times, it’s tempting to lean into stories that evoke sympathy, stunting our growth and motivation.

Yet, it’s imperative to acknowledge two truths:

……1. We have the option to select our story.
……2. We possess the power to reshape it.

Over the past decade, I’ve struggled with redefining my immigrant story and crafting a fresh story. An important aspect of this journey is understanding how this new story resonates with my core values, as our stories are chosen primarily for how they make us feel.

As I write these words, I continue to seek the next chapter of my life, embarking on a quest for a story that aligns with my aspirations, knowing that I’m not alone on this journey.

I invite us all to set a goal for the upcoming year: to craft a narrative that motivates and inspires. I’m committing to cultivate a story worthy of sharing with my children, and perhaps, future generations.

I once again want to extend my heartfelt thanks for your unwavering support. Wishing you a healthy, prosperous new year filled with blessings.

May God bless us all, and may God bless the USA.
